21 Savage Performs at B’nai Mitzvah

21 Savage went full Savage Mode at a b’nai mitzvah.

The Atlanta rapper, who recently signed with Epic Records, helped twins Jake and Sydney Steinger turn up for their 13th birthday at their bar/bat mitzvah at The Breakers hotel in Palm Beach, Florida.

Rocking Moschino, Savage walked in to The Weeknd’s “Starboy” before launching into a semi-censored version of “Dip Dip.” “It’s a lot of curse words,” he said. “Trying to clean it up for y’all.” Later, the twins joined him in a rendition of another profanity-laced banger, “No Heart.”

According to TMZ, the twins’ father Steinger dropped $1 million on the party, some of which Savage was able to take home on a private jet.

Perhaps this was a clean preview of what fans can expect from 21’s upcoming “Issa Tour” trek, which kicks off March 31 in Houston with Young M.A.

Listen to Frank Ocean’s ‘Blonded’ Playlist

After hosting blonded Radio on Apple Music’s Beats 1 (with a little help from Jay Z), Frank Ocean took his talents to TIDAL, where he curated a 32-track playlist titled Blonded.

The eclectic collection mirrors the one that Ocean played on his Beats 1 show, including songs from Kodak Black (“Tunnel Vision”), Céline Dion (“All By Myself”), Migos (“Get Right Witcha”), and Prince (“Adore,” “When You Were Mine,” and “The Beautiful Ones”).

Of course, the Blonded playlist also features a few of Frank’s own songs, including “Nights,” “Pink + White,” “Self Control,” and “Slide,” his new collaboration with Calvin Harris and Migos.

Ocean’s Beats 1 program was highlighted by a Jay Z interview that surprised many listeners, given that it appeared on TIDAL’s rival, Apple Music. In the brief clips, Jigga praised Ocean while bashing modern radio conventions.

“Radio is pretty much an advertisement model,” he said. “You take these pop stations. They’re reaching 18-34 young white female, so they’re playing music based on those tastes. They’re taking those numbers and going to advertising agencies. People are paying numbers based on the audience they have. These places are not even based on music. Their playlists are not based on music. A person like Bob Marley, right now, probably wouldn’t play on the pop station, which is crazy. It’s not even about the DJ discovering what music is best.”

Drake Brings Out The Weeknd in Germany

OVOXO unites.

The 6 God and Starboy connected once again on Saturday (Feb. 25), during Drake’s “Boy Meets World Tour” stop in Oberhausen, Germany.

Performing under red lights, Abel Tesfaye surprised Drizzy’s audience with a rendition of his massive hit, “The Hills.” Afterwards, the two embraced onstage and called one another “the real Starboy,” before Weeknd bowed to his one-time mentor.

This surprise follows Drake’s cameo in the XO boss’s star-studded “Reminder” video, which also featured A$AP Rocky, French Montana, YG, and Bryson Tiller, among others. It also arrives as Abel continues his own “Starboy: Legend of the Fall Tour” overseas.

There might be even more in store from the Toronto duo, who worked together extensively on Drake’s Take Care LP before they went their separate ways. In November, Abel even teased a potential joint project.

“He came in as my big bro and showed the world what I could do,” he said. “From then on, he’s always been supporting me and I’ve always been supporting him. Behind the scenes, we’re still very close but it’s cool that the world can see us doing our own thing. OVOXO will always be there.” Of the possible joint project, he added: “Maybe. Why not?”

Nicki Minaj Calls Out Trey Songz After Remy Ma Diss

The fallout from Nicki Minaj’s Remy Ma beef continues and now, it involves Trey Songz and Beats 1/Hot 97 host Ebro Darden.

On her scathing “shETHER” track, Reminisce rhymed about alleged relationships between Nicki and others. “Only time you touched a Trigga was when you fucked Trey Songz / Coke head, you cheated on your man with Ebro.”

Shortly after, Songz issued a statement on Instagram. “I got respect for Nicki. Me and Nicki did work together,” he said in a Story video. “I got respect for Remy. But no matter what you heard, I ain’t never had sex with Nicki.”

He also tweeted about it. “Even when you stay out of the way they will have ya name all in some shit. Wake up to new comedy everyday. Focus,” he wrote.

Perhaps without seeing Trey’s Instagram story, Nicki retweeted his tweet and had her own take on the situation. “Lol,” she wrote. “Wut u SHOULD b saying is that it’s not true, seeing as it’s not. Real ni**az do real things. I done gotchu 6 million plaques.”

Trey hit back: “you need to be mad at Remy Nicki,” he tweeted. “cause if you check my Instagram feed, I already denied it on video so words didn’t get misconstrued.”

This wasn’t enough for Minaj. “U shouldn’t have posted Smthn indirect in the first place,” she wrote. “Ni**az out here indirectly lying on they dick now…bless your heart.”

Nicki would go on to delete these tweets.

#TreySongz cleared the air and confirmed that he and #NickiMinaj never slept together

For his part, Darden also denied any sexual involvement with Minaj. “Remy knows she’s lying,” he wrote. “Matter of fact the dude that told her that bullshit, she knows is a nerd! These nerd as dudes always worried.”

Nicki also responded to “shETHER” on Instagram, where she posted a screenshot of an article about Remy Ma and Fat Joe’s Plata o Plomo LP. “Powered by the Platinum certified ‘All the Way Up,’ read the article, “Remy Ma and Fat Joe’s joint effort Plata o Plomo debuts disappointedly at No. 44 on the SPS count. Its combined numbers on that chart came in at 11,158. As for the project’s pure sales debut, that figure sat at a shocking 7,978.”

Nicki’s caption? “Yikes.” However, she went on to delete this post, as well.

While Remy didn’t respond to the sales report directly, she retweeted a fan who wrote: “[Remy Ma] can sell 5 copies, but her pen is worth more than [Nicki Minaj’s] entire discography.”

Last night, Remy partially performed her “shETHER” diss and appeared to reiterate some slights at Nicki from her “All the Way Up (Remix),” by going acapella and adding a “shut the fuck all the way up” at the end before a mic drop.

6 Facts You Ought to Know About Oscar Host Jimmy Kimmel

Jimmy Kimmel has been captivating us as the late night host on Jimmy Kimmel Live for the past 13 years. Kimmel was not always that funny guy we see every night on ABC.

He used to be a dorky clarinet player in Vegas, pining over David Letterman, and wondering why he couldn’t get any girls.

Look how great life turned out, Jimmy! Good things come to those who wait.

Here are 6 things we love about the Oscar host!

David Letterman is His Idol

ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" - Season Ten

Of course, we all respect the legendary David Letterman. Except, Jimmy Kimmel. Jimmy takes it to a whole other level.

From a young age, Jimmy practically worshipped the ground David Letterman walked on. The license plate of Jimmy’s first car read, “ L8 NITE” to honor Dave’s existence. On Jimmy’s 18th birthday, his birthday cake was a replica of his Late Night license plate. On the day of Letterman’s final show, Jimmy aired a rerun of Jimmy Kimmel Live out of respect. Well, that, and the fact that he will “probably be crying all day, which makes it hard to work,” Jimmy told the New York Times.

He is Narcoleptic

#bedmill

A post shared by Jimmy Kimmel (@jimmykimmel) on Sep 29, 2014 at 8:00pm PDT

It’s true; Jimmy Kimmel’s doctor said he has narcolepsy.

Jimmy works 70 hours a week, and says he is always very close to sleep. We can’t blame him. He used to self medicate with obscene amounts of iced tea to stay awake. When he told his doctor, he prescribed Provigil to Jimmy to help his symptoms.

Longtime ex-girlfriend Sarah Silverman disagrees. She said on Watch What Happens Live, “I personally don’t think Jimmy was ever narcoleptic.” Jimmy once told Sarah that he always falls asleep at three o’clock, and Sarah’s response was, “Yeah, everybody does. It’s an hour and a half after lunch.”

Jimmy wrote in an essay to Esquire that he hopes to one day be the public face of narcolepsy.

Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Vegas

Jimmy Kimmel Receives Honorary Degree From UNLV

Jimmy Kimmel was born in Brooklyn on November 13th, 1967. By the time he was 9, they decided to move practically across the country to Las Vegas.

Jimmy grew up in Vegas, where he made his childhood friends, learned how to drive, and allegedly never picked up any girls. He graduated from Clark High School, where they named a technology wing after him as a thank you for his generous donation. Jimmy also received an honorary doctorate from UNLV in 2013.

His BFF is the Band Leader on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" - Season Ten

Thanks to the big move to Las Vegas, Jimmy Kimmel was able to meet his best friend, Cleto Escobedo.

This one time at band camp (OK, not actually at band camp, but definitely in band), the young, nerdy, clarinet-playing Jimmy met the cool, suave, saxophone playing kid named Cleto. No matter where their paths took them, they stayed in touch, and close pals. Cleto became a professional musician, touring with Paula Abdul, Earth, Wind, and Fire, and eventually, landing the gig as the bandleader on Jimmy Kimmel Live. One day, Jimmy thought to himself, “I have a talk show. Cleto has to be my band leader,” he told ABC.

Jimmy and Cleto have now been on the small screen together for over twelve years.

Married Wife Molly McNeary in 2013

Rihanna and The Clara Lionel Foundation Presents The Inaugural Diamond Ball - Inside

There’s nothing like a good love story. This one starts with boss, Jimmy, and employee, Molly.

Molly admitted to Glamour that she “never once thought of him or looked at him in that way… it never occurred to me.” At one of the writers’ meetings, Jimmy asked everyone what their favorite food was. Molly listed five foods. One day, Jimmy invited Molly to his home, and he cooked her all of her favorite foods. That pretty much sealed the deal. They officially started dating in 2009, and got married in 2013.

Molly and Jimmy are still happily married, and have exciting news!

He Has 3 Kids, and Another on the Way

Jimmy said on his show, as a teenage boy, he never thought he’d host the Oscars, or have sex, but dreams do come true.

Jimmy has two children, Kevin and Katherine, from his first wife Gina Maddy. Kevin and Katherine are in their 20’s, and are turning out to be just as creative as their Dad! Kevin’s Twitter shows us he has his Dad’s humor, and daughter Katherine is artsy just like her Dad.

Jimmy and second wife Molly had their first child, Jane, together in July 2014. Jane is still too young to understand the severity of Dad eating all of her Halloween candy, but maybe she will by the time she’s a big sister!

Jimmy and Molly are expecting their second child and plan to have the gender be a surprise. “We asked the technician not to tell us whether it’s a boy or a girl. Our plan is to let the child decide for itself,” Jimmy said on his show.

Leon Ware: Writer for MJ, Marvin Gaye, Quincy Jones, Dead at 77

Nearly one week after the death of influential drummer Clyde Stubblefield, the passing of another soul music great, whose work would gain new life through it’s sampling on Hip Hop records, was announced on Thursday, February 23.

Leon Ware was an old school Detroit native who entered the music business with Berry Gordy as a Motown original. He would release 11 studio albums throughout his five decades in the business but was most noted for his contributions behind the scenes, as a songwriter for such artists as Michael Jackson and Marvin Gaye.

Ware got his early credits as one of Gordy’s in-house writers. The position allowed him to work intimately with Motown’s legendary roster of artists, including Diana Ross and The Isley Brothers, for whom he wrote the 1967 track “Got to Have You Back.” Throughout the late 60’s he made some contributions to efforts by flagship artist, Gaye, but it was in 1976 that they connected to put out his most substantial project with Gaye when the r&b king dropped I Want You, which Ware co-wrote every track of. By that time Ware had already been reputed across the industry for his hit making ability, having been tapped by Quincy Jones for his 1974 album Body Heat, and written one of Michael’s debut hits, after leaving the Jackson 5, “I wanna Be Where You Are.”

Ware would go on to work with other greats throughout the 1970’s, including Donny Hathaway, Minnie Riperton and the Miracles. But his contributions didn’t stop there, as his indirect impact would go on to spawn modern hits through sampling by such acts as Tupac, Jay-Z and A Tribe Called Quest.

The cause of his death is still yet confirmed, although he had lived his final days suffering from prostate cancer. He was 77 years old.

Video Of D.C. Cop Shooting a Man While He Lays Face Down

Washington, D.C. police brass have reportedly taken a step back from confirming statements they made about a shooting that left two officers injured and a 47-year-old man dead on Thursday night, February 23, after a recording of the shooting taken by a civilians cell phone reared up on social media.

The 45-second snippet appears to show Timothy Williams on his stomach, with one officer attempting to restrain him on the ground, when another runs up and fires three shots while standing over his body. They officer who had been wrestling with the man on the ground, then stumbles forward, seemingly hurt, as a swarm of police draw in for aid.

Seconds prior to the officer letting off shots, one of the officers could be heard yelling “shots fired,” leaving question as to what occurred at the northeastern D.C. scene. Authorities initially reported Williams having been stopped at around 10:40 p.m. in response to calls about gunfire in the Trinidad neighborhood. They say that he attempted to flee, and disregarded multiple commands to stop. The gunfire came, authorities initially reported, after a struggle ensued.

Following the video’s release, Police Chief Peter Newsham stated that the department is not in a position to confirm exactly what happened, and that it was too early to conclude whether the shooting was “justified”, although he said that a handgun was recovered and it is believed to have belonged to Williams. Newsham admitted to having reviewed involved officers’ body camera recordings, but would not go into detail about what he saw.

“Whatever you have seen so far is not complete,” he told the public during a Friday press conference. “I don’t know exactly what happened and I caution people to not jump to conclusions.”

The investigation is ongoing.

Shunned By Blacks and Whites, "Transracial" Rachel Dolezal Is Broke

In a recent exclusive with The Guardian, former NAACP leader Rachel Dolezal opened up about life after being exposed as a white woman who for years had acclimated herself into activist circles and climbed the NGO ladder while claiming to be Black. To say that it hasn’t been easy would be an understatement, as Dolezal, now 39, claims she hasn’t been able to find work and is headed towards homelessness.

Dolezal made the front page of national dailies when her parents, Larry and Ruthanne, dropped a bombshell by confirming that she had been pretending all of the years that she presented herself as a Black woman. The news would grow into a full-blown scandal, leading to the NAACP unseating her from their Spokane, Washington branch, and Eastern Washington University firing her from her adjunct instructor position. Dolezal has remained steadfast in her ownership of the “transracial” label she’s assumed, continuing to identify with what she believes are African roots far back in her ancestry, albeit she hasn’t found many who legitimize her claim.

According to Dolezal, she’s applied for over 100 jobs over the past two years but has been turned down by every single one of them. She has otherwise been offered opportunities in reality tv and porn, she says. It had been anticipated that she’d be successful in selling a memoir, which she recently completed and titled “In Full Color,” but even that was turned down by 30 publishing houses. Dolezal says she gets by on government assistance and the help of friends, but admits that it is getting more and more difficult, and the fact that she’s been universally shunned doesn’t help.

“Right now the only place I feel understood and completely accepted is with my kids and my sister,” she told the publication. “The narrative was that I’d offended both communities in an unforgivable way, so anybody who gave me a dime would be contributing to wrong and oppression and bad things. To a liar and fraud and a con.”

Chicago's Deadliest Week in 2017 Ends, 81 Busted In Overnight Gun Raids

The Chicago Police Department took down 81 people identified over a three week planning period, to be instrumental in the prevalence of crime in the South and West Side sections of the city, on Thursday and Friday nights, [February 23-24].

The consecutive overnight raids were responsible for netting 61 convicted felons, 49 of whom are said to be gang members. Of the total number of people apprehended, 65 are said to have been targeted as higher risks due to their history as victims or purveyors of gun violence. For most of those arrested, it wasn’t their first go around with the law. “There are repeat gun offenders that one, don’t care they’re on parole, two, and don’t care about the fact they’re already previously convicted felons,” Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson told members of the media at a press conference announcing the bust. “They’re not new to us. But the simple fact is we need the judicial system and our legislators to help us with this.”

The sweeps were conducted as a part of an initiative to intensify law enforcement, following President Donald Trump’s call for local officials to curb Chicago’s exorbitant violence before he selects to dispense federal authorities to the city. Trump recently doubled down on his call for officials to tackle the problem, stating in a news conference last week that Chicago suffers a tale of two cities, one that is “incredible, luxurious and safe” and another that he likened to the Middle East. The statement was consistent with past remarks that have been criticized as dangerous by opponents of the militarization of police.

This week’s raids resulted in police seizing 12 firearms, including a machine gun. Another raid, this time backed by federal agents, is said to be planned for the coming weeks.
