Protesters Block Education Secretary Betsy DeVos from Entering D.C. School

Newly appointed Education Secretary Betsy DeVos ran into some resistance from opponents on Friday morning, February 10, when her appearance at a Washington D.C. school was stifled by protesters.

DeVos didn’t simply encounter a picket line when she arrived at Jefferson Middle School, she encountered protesters blocking her entrance into the school building. Upon realizing that she might have trouble navigating the situation, DeVos and her assistant made an about face and headed back to her car to leave the premise.

“Keep giving money to senators and buying your way to the position,” one man standing before the school’s entrance hollered, as a couple of scattered demonstrators chanted “Go back,” and “Shame!.” The protest was reportedly organized by the Washington teachers union, who oppose DeVos for her scant record in the field of education and her advocacy of Charter Schools.

NFL Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk Says We Should Get Behind Trump

NFL Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk says it’s about time American’s begin to align themselves behind 45th President Donald Trump.

The former Indianapolis and St. Louis Rams running back disclosed his position on the office of the presidency while appearing alongside Peter Rosenberg, Laura Stylez and host, Ebro himself on Hot 97 for Thursday’s [February 9] episode of Ebro In The Morning.

“If he won… And I try to explain this to people, you know. When Obama won, the racist hate that was being spieled about not wanting a Black President; if you are not giving Trump a chance you are just like those idiots,” said Faulk. “He won. So now we have to unite, get behind him, and let him either take us up or take us down.”

Ebro would counter that he isn’t in agreement with Faulk on the Trump question, admitting that he has no intention on unifying behind the President. Faulk joins a cast of Black athletes and entertainers, including Jim Brown, Steve Harvey, and Chrisette Michele, who’ve encouraged the Black community to put their faith in the incumbent President.

Stream DeJ Loaf & Jacquees’ ‘F**k a Friend Zone’ Mixtape

DeJ Loaf and Jacquees say Fuck a Friend Zone on a telling new mixtape that seems to indicate a budding romance is in the air.

The title track finds the Cash Money rapper singing about his longstanding appreciation for the Detroit MC, which apparently dates back to 2014. “I took a shot, I wanted to meet DeJ,” he sings. “Took a picture, put it on my page / On Instagram / I think she feeling me and my wave.”

Lil Loaf appears to reciprocate that while referencing her rumored ex, Lil Durk. “Goddamn, it’s amazin’,” she sing-raps. “Dreads were so long and you had braces / I know you heard the rumors, talkin’ like I’m taken / But it ain’t nothing that can’t be replaced.”

After singing about “music lovemaking” on the opener, the rest of the 13-track project features production by Nash B, Andrew Lloyd, iRocksays, YOG$, and more. It also features more allusions to a burgeoning romance.

On “No Better Love,” for instance, Jacquees sings: “I’m not like your other man / Fuck with me when you can, DeJ / I’m more than just a friend.” And on their closer, “The World Along With You,” he adds: “I forget my girl when I’m with you.” Meanwhile, DeJ adds: “Forget my man when I’m with you.”

Watch a New Trailer for the Tupac Shakur Biopic ‘All Eyez On Me’

The long-awaited Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez On Me won’t arrive until the summer, but fans are getting another sneak peek in a new trailer.

The minute-long clip features a brief look at the West Coast legend’s friendship with the Notorious B.I.G. and an emotional speech by “The Walking Dead’s” Danai Gurira, who plays ‘Pac’s late mom Afeni Shakur.

“Son,” she says. “This ain’t just about you. Like all black men, you have a bullseye on your back. They are gonna come after you and everything you love. They are gonna give you the tools that you need to destroy yourself. So above all else, to thy own self, be true.”

Premiered by HipHopDX, the trailer also features Demetrius Shipp, Jr. as Tupac, Jamal Woolard as Notorious B.I.G. — a role he famously held in 2009’s Notorious — and Dominic L. Santana as Suge Knight. Biggie and ‘Pac can be seen conversing in one of the scenes, a callback to their pre-feud bond.

Last year, Shipp spoke with Complex about the role and Shakur’s significance. “The greatness that I adore the most is him as a man, as a person, and as a leader, as a black leader,” he said. “That’s what I idolized in ‘Pac more than the music. As a kid, it was just the music, but growing up, becoming a man, and diving deep into his life and seeing exactly what he had to go through, what he overcame, the choices he made and the wisdom he carried at 25. Man, that’s something that was amazing.”

Kat Graham (“The Vampire Diaries,” The Parent Trap) will star as Shakur’s longtime friend Jada Pinkett, John West Jr. (“Southland”) will play Naughty by Nature’s Treach, and Grace Gibson (Black Nativity) will play Faith Evans.

Released by Lionsgate and directed by Benny Boom, All Eyez On Me is due in theaters June 16 on what would have been Tupac’s 46th birthday.
