Drake, J. Cole, & The Weeknd FaceTime Fan Who Died From Cancer

Drake, J. Cole, and The Weeknd are opening their hearts.

The superstars FaceTimed with a young fan named Elijah shortly before he passed away from cancer. The heartwarming moment was captured on camera by Elijah’s cousin Michael Watson, who shared video of the 11-year-old speaking with his favorite artists.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, man,” Cole tells Elijah, who is surrounded by his family at his home in Hampton, Virginia. After Cole tells him, “I love you, dude,” Elijah’s face lights up. “I appreciate that smile, sir, thank you,” adds the Dreamville rapper.

Over the past 3 years, my 11 y.o. cousin, Elijah, has battled cancer with the utmost resilience. Elijah's physical fight is now complete, as he transitioned to heaven on Friday. He didn't leave this world without knowing how much he was loved though. Last weekend, Elijah got to "meet" 3 of his favorite artists — The Weeknd, J. Cole, & Drake. Incredibly grateful for these 3 super-humans being so caring for my family during this time. We’ll hold onto these moments forever. A special thank you to the angels, Kathryn & Krystal for helping make this happen in such a short time. Please lift Kiara, Elijah's mom, and the rest of the fam up in your thoughts & prayers. In a time where there seems like so much is out of our control, one thing that we all have the power to give + show others is LOVE. 2 Corinthians 5:8

Elijah is even more surprised when The Weeknd calls in. “Whoa!” he says before the After Hours singer thanks him for being a fan. “I’m so honored to be one of your favorite artists, buddy. Thank you,” says The Weeknd.

In another touching moment, The Weeknd tells Elijah, “Love you, buddy,” while he responds, “Love you too.”

Drake can also be seen on a FaceTime call with Elijah in a photo shared by his mother, Kiara Swope.

After a three-year battle with cancer, Elijah sadly passed away on Friday, according to his cousin. “Over the past 3 years, my 11 y.o. cousin, Elijah, has battled cancer with the utmost resilience. Elijah’s physical fight is now complete, as he transitioned to heaven on Friday,” wrote Michael. “He didn’t leave this world without knowing how much he was loved though. Last weekend, Elijah got to ‘meet’ 3 of his favorite artists — The Weeknd, J. Cole, & Drake. Incredibly grateful for these 3 super-humans being so caring for my family during this time. We’ll hold onto these moments forever.”

Elijah’s mother also thanked Drake, Cole, and The Weeknd, along with NASCAR racer Joey Logano, for showing her son so much love. “I just want to say a huge Thank you to @realcoleworld @theweeknd @champagnepapi & @joeylogano for showing my baby some love these last difficult days of his life,” she said. “I truly appreciate you all.”

The Game, DJ Khaled, & Roddy Ricch Pay Tribute to Nipsey Hussle on Death Anniversary

The Marathon continues.

Today marks the one-year anniversary of Nipsey Hussle’s death. In celebration of his life, the hip-hop community has taken to social media to remember the Crenshaw icon, who was gunned down outside of his Marathon Clothing store on March 31, 2019.

But his legacy is very much alive. Nipsey won two posthumous Grammys in January and murals have been painted across his hometown in his honor, while rival gangs have come together in the aftermath of his death.

His peers continue to celebrate his lasting impact on hip-hop and his community including The Game, who penned a lengthy tribute to his friend. “Hu$$le man….. can’t believe it’s been one year since you departed from this krazy world,” said the Compton MC. “I know you’re proud of what your life’s mission has accomplished in the past 12 months. You have truly touched the hearts of people all around the world. Your face is everywhere… your music is timeless & your words are heard loud & clear.”

Hu$$le man….. can’t believe it’s been one year since you departed from this krazy world. “Time flies” has an entire different meaning these days. I know you’re proud of what your life’s mission has accomplished in the past 12 months. You have truly touched the hearts of people all around the world. Your face is everywhere… your music is timeless & your words are heard loud & clear. There are newborns named “Ermias” & I can’t get on anything and not see someone quoting you. A true KING to his people with a heart of gold. A pure soul who knew exactly what the world needed for motivation. My only wish is that you could’ve been here to see it all unfold yourself. Here for times like now when people need to be uplifted the most. The ultimate sacrifice: surrendering your life to God so that others would learn that there is much more to life than to care only for ones self. The world is about to hard reset & I’d like to think that you were one of the reasons for what’s to come in the future. A world where we have to think before we act. Care for those around us. Remember the importance of the everyday essentials, clean food, water, herbs & taking care of the most important thing on earth…. HUMANITY. Being forced to stay inside & with those closest to you is not a bad thing in my eyes. Yes, the pandemic is claiming lives & my loves goes out to the families of those lost…. But, I see this as a peaceful time that we will never see again in our lifetime. A time to reflect, empower, strategize & focus on how to make a true impact to what will soon be the new world. Things will never be the same after this & it is on all of us to adapt efficiently & contribute positively for all of us so that we can live in a world as ONE. The earth as we know it is sick… We are all home waiting for what’s next. While we’re waiting, let’s not add to the problem but prepare to be apart of the solution. We all need US. Especially now…. my love is with every single person on this earth during these times. This is the mark of a NEW BEGINNING. I’m ready enough for all of us. #TheMarathonContinues #LongLiveNipseyHussle 🏁 [@madsteez thank you for this piece, can’t wait to hang it]

Eminem Says He’s ‘Proud’ of His Daughter Hailie

Eminem is a proud father.

The Detroit rapper has shied away from speaking about his family life, but he couldn’t help but gush over his daughter. In a recent interview with Mike Tyson’s “Hotboxin’” podcast, Em opened up about Hailie Mathers, whom he shares with ex-wife Kim Scott.

“No babies, she has a boyfriend, but she’s doing good,” said Eminem (via Page Six). “She’s made me proud for sure. She’s graduated from college.”

Hailie, who graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in psychology, remains close with her dad. During a June 2018 interview with Daily Mail, the 24-year-old revealed that she lives in her own home near her family in Detroit.

“Of course, we are very close,” said Hailee of their relationship.

Hailee has become a social media influencer, with nearly 2 million followers on Instagram. She is currently in a relationship with longtime boyfriend Evan McClintock, who she met in college.

During his interview with the retired boxing champ, Eminem also opened up about raising his two nieces. “I have a niece that I have helped raise, too, that’s pretty much like a daughter to me, and she is 26,” said the “Godzilla” MC, “and I have a younger one that’s 17 now.”

Despite all his achievements, nothing makes him prouder than his family. “So when I think about my accomplishments, that’s probably the thing I’m the most proud of is being able to raise kids.”

The devoted dad is making sure his kids stay grounded despite money and fame. “It’s important to keep your kids grounded when they’re in a situation like I have, it’s very important,” he added. “People also think too that money just buys happiness, [but] that absolutely is not the truth. You’ve got to be right inside, otherwise none of this shit means nothing.”
