New Music: Young Thug – ‘Back Bone’

Young Thug rekindles his Rich Gang ties with “Back Bone,” a new standout from Cash Money’s newly-released Before Anythang soundtrack.

Produced by TM88 and Wheezy, the song begins with Thug pondering his influence. “I gotta get rich,” he raps. “I’m everybody’s backbone.”

Later, he wonders if those around him are truly loyal. “My ni**as said they trill, but I want ’em to prove it / If I wasn’t rich and didn’t have a job, would you still do it?”

In between his more thought-provoking lines, Thug manages to boast about himself and his team. “I’m Michael Jackson,” he raps. “My crew, we could be the Beatles.”

Recently, Gucci Mane proposed a Rich Gang reunion between Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug for $1 million. However, Thugger seemed to scoff at the notion. Thug also recently promised not to release a new album this year as a tribute to his brother, who is deaf.

Before Anythang: The Cash Money Story debuted last month via Apple Music. Its newly-released soundtrack also features Migos, Gucci Mane, Jacquees, DeJ Loaf, and Snoop Dogg.

Rihanna Is the Most Certified Artist in RIAA Digital Songs History

Rihanna celebrates a major milestone.

The Recording Industry Association of America has declared RiRi the No. 1 most certified artist for Digital Songs of all time with 124 million certified units.

Bad Gal rejoiced with a message to fans. “I’m grateful for this honor,” she said. “Thank you God, and thank you to my fans and supporters for holding me down and propelling me forward throughout the years! @RIAA thank you for always acknowledging us music peeps!! One Love always.”

Rihanna’s rewards keep raining down. This month alone, she earned new certifications for “Stay” (7x platinum), “Love on the Brain” (3x platinum), and “Desperado” (platinum).

RiRi’s 124 million certified units make her the most awarded artist in the Digital Songs section of the chart. Taylor Swift (108.5 million) and Eminem (107.5 million) trail behind her, while Katy Perry (98 million) and Justin Bieber (68.5 million) round out the top five.

Her reign extends beyond music. After taking over fashion with Fenty x Puma and cosmetics with Fenty Beauty, she’s reportedly also getting into the lingerie business. Her new line is scheduled to debut soon.

Movies are also part of the equation. RiRi will star in this summer’s Ocean’s 8, which will also feature Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, and more.

But she hasn’t forgotten about music. H.E.R. recently revealed that the singers have collaborated on “secret projects,” which could appear on the follow-up to 2016’s ANTI.

Fabolous Lashes Out and Threatens Emily B and Her Father in New Video

Shortly after Fabolous’ arrest for allegedly assaulting his longtime girlfriend Emily Bustamante, video has emerged showing the Brooklyn rapper yelling and making threats while brandishing a sharp object.

The footage, obtained by TMZ, starts with Fabolous yelling at Emily B’s father. “Don’t ever come around me ever again,” he says.

The man also yells at Fabolous in the video. “That’s my motherfuckin’ daughter, you fuckin’ coward,” he says. “You a coward.”

A bodyguard attempts to restrain Fabolous, while another bodyguard appears to hold Emily B’s father back. Their argument continues with Fabolous saying that “a fuckin’ bullet got your name on it.” The rapper also points a sharp object at Emily, who moves away when he steps toward her.

The couple has two children together, Johan, 10, and Jonas, 2. It’s unclear whether they were in the house at the time of the incident, but the video includes a child’s cries in the background.

The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday (March 28) and resulted in Fabolous’ arrest. He was booked for aggravated assault and making a terroristic threat after turning himself in.

Additionally, Bustamante claims that Fabolous punched her seven times in the face, severely damaging two of her front teeth on March 7.

Fabolous has yet to address the matter directly, but his longtime lawyer Alberto Ebanks discussed the newly-released video in a statement. “This is only an argument,” he said. “There certainly is no crime being committed. If what you see in the video were a crime, we’d have to build more jails.”
