Drake Gives Kendrick Lamar Props for ‘DAMN.’ Success

Drizzy gives K-Dot props.

After reading sales figures for Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. — which is slated to top the Billboard 200 for a second week in a row — Drake commented, “Amazing to see our music moving!!!”

The comment comes as a result of More Life being projected to reach No. 2 on the chart with 77,959 units, trailing behind K-Dot’s 233,301 units.

But that’s not where Drizzy’s Kung Fu Kenny commentary ended. When producer Austin Millz wrote: “Khaled really got Bieber, Chance, Migos and Lil Wayne on one track. How do you follow that up?” The 6 God responded: “Get Drake, Kendrick, and J Cole on the same record.”

This is a far cry from Drake’s 2013 perspective on Kendrick. Following Dot’s “Control” verse, which named him and other rappers, Drizzy seemed perturbed. “I don’t know if I necessarily respect it,” he said of the song at the time. “We all make decisions. I’m sure he’ll be good. He’s talented as fuck. He’s going to have another album and another opportunity to take the world by storm so he’ll be alright, even if it doesn’t feature any of the names that he mentioned, which it probably won’t. I don’t know who’s gonna go back from that like, ‘Let’s link up.’ Nah.”

Since then, the two MCs have not worked together and they’ve reportedly sent subliminal disses at one another throughout the years. Prior to this apparent fallout, they collaborated on “Fuckin’ Problems” and “Poetic Justice.”

The event also acted as another mini Destiny’s Child reunion, as Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams were also on hand for the celebration.

Say, say, say. It’s Starboy and Kung Fu Kenny!

The Weeknd surprised fans at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. on Saturday (Apr. 29), bringing out hometown hero Kendrick Lamar for the latest stop on his “Starboy: Legend of the Fall Tour.” Midway through his hypnotic set, the Canadian superstar performed the self-confident “Sidewalks,” while K-Dot emerged for his electrifying verse.

Once “Sidewalks” ended, it seemed like Mr. 1 Through 5 was done, but another surprise was in store. Instead of leaving, he launched into a solo performance of his No. 1 single “HUMBLE.” with the L.A. crowd chanting along to his “my left stroke just went viral” line in unison.

It was a highlight of the evening, which kicked off with opening sets from 6LACK, Belly, and Rae Sremmurd. Each of those openers also made an appearance during Abel’s headlining medley, with 6LACK performing “PRBLMS,” Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi performing “Black Beatles,” and Belly joining in for “Might Not.”

During his solo moments, The Weeknd was a maestro. Standing below an Es Devlin-designed spaceship structure, he expertly weaved through his catalog, performing hit after hit, including “Starboy,” “I Feel It Coming,” “Reminder,” as well as “Earned It,” “Often,” and “Can’t Feel My Face.” Once the show was over, he returned for “The Hills” as an encore.

This was the first of two back-to-back shows at The Forum. Tonight, The Weeknd returns for another evening before continuing on the North American leg of his tour, which runs through June 9 in Cincinnati.

Lil Wayne Brings Out Russel Westbrook and Starts MVP Chant

In finishing the 2017 NBA season as the league leader in points and assists, Russell Westbrook would have had a case for Most Valuable Player, even if he hadn’t rounded out his 37.4 points and 10.8 dishes with 11.6 rebounds per game. And with the record for most triple doubles in a season coming only days after he became the first player to average a triple-double since Oscar Robertson in 1961-62, why even mention the fact that he led his team [a playoff team] in every single statistical category, except for blocking.

One mega basketball fan who favors Westbrook as the unanimous MVP is Lil Wayne, who made that much apparent when after bringing him out on stage during a concert in Oklahoma City on Thursday night, April 26, he lead fans in an “M-V-P” chant. The Criterion crowd had already been pumped by Wayne spitting his verse on Chance the Rapper’s “No Problem,” when he substituted the song’s hook with the chant.

Westbrook had himself already been lit, taking in the vibes stage-sid when he was surprised by the honor.

ASAP Ferg replaces Kodak black on Future's "Nobody Safe" tour

Kodak Black just finished beating an assault charge, but still faces time for violating the conditions of his house arrest. The Pompano Beach rapper will thus learn his fate when he returns to court for his sentencing date, on May 4. Coincidentally, that also happens to be the day he had been scheduled to join Future as he opens up The Nobody Safe tour.

The 37 date tour kicks off in Memphis the very date Kodak faces the judge. It will travel on through until June 30, when it comes to its completion in Las Vegas. Kodak would have been fine performing alongside the Atlanta trap star, as his house arrest stipulates that he can indeed tend to his work related business. Kodak was sent back to jail when it was discovered that he had made a couple of unauthorized stops around town in February, attending an Adrien Broner boxing match and hitting up a strip club or two that weren’t on the agenda.

He was supposed to travel as one of the tour’s main performers, along with Migos and Tory Lanez. And Young Thug and ASAP Ferg were going to make occasional appearances, but it has been learned that ASAP Ferg’s presence on the tour has been upgraded so that he fills Kodak’s spot for the tour’s duration. Others have since been added to the show as well, including A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, who will do spot dates, and Zoey Dollaz, who is set to make consistent appearances.

Desiigner Announces "Life of Desiigner" Album

Desiigner has been giving fans samples of what they could expect from his debut album, over the past couple of months, with four new singles having surfaced on Youtube and SoundCloud thus far in the new year. And heading into the weekend, the Brooklyn rapper invited fans over Twitter to check out material he is yet to have released, in person, by coming out to see him perform at The Outlet Tour. He also provided some hype for his day one’s, with a message that announced a special surprise.

“Droppiing The Album iiN July,” he tweeted.

The early Summer date gives Desiigner three months to get “Outlet,” “Holy Ghost,” “Thank God I Got It,” and “Up” on loop in as many cars and clubs as possible. Outlet and Holy Ghost are currently enjoying a good run, with the latter having topped 4 million cumulative spins, while the song he chose to name his tour after has amassed more than 4 million on Youtube and an additional 3.5 million on SoundCloud. But it remains to be seen if the GOOD Music newbie has a hit that will do anything close to what his 2016 mega hit “Panda” did. It has been 64 weeks since the song entered the Billboard top 100, and it continues to hang on to a spot on the chart, coming in at #100 last week.

Besides the month of its release, and title, Desiigner didn’t disclose any further information about his Liife Of Desiigner LP.
